The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the current time, so you may think that there would be little desire for patronizing Zimbabwe's gambling halls. In reality, it seems to be operating the opposite way, with the atrocious economic circumstances creating a bigger eagerness to gamble, to try and find a fast win, a way from the crisis.

For almost all of the citizens surviving on the tiny nearby wages, there are two popular forms of wagering, the state lotto and Zimbet. Just as with almost everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lottery where the odds of succeeding are unbelievably small, but then the prizes are also unbelievably large. It's been said by market analysts who look at the concept that the lion's share do not purchase a ticket with a real assumption of winning. Zimbet is built on one of the domestic or the United Kingston football leagues and involves determining the outcomes of future matches.

Zimbabwe's gambling halls, on the other hand, pander to the considerably rich of the state and tourists. Up until recently, there was a very large vacationing industry, centered on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic collapse and associated violence have cut into this market.

Among Zimbabwe's gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slot machines. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which offer gaming tables, slots and video poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the two of which have slot machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe's casinos and the previously mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a parimutuel betting system), there is a total of 2 horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd metropolis) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the economy has deflated by beyond forty percent in the past few years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has come to pass, it is not well-known how well the tourist industry which is the backbone of Zimbabwe's gambling halls will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will survive until conditions get better is simply not known.
